Barn Owl Stencil

Felix has devoted part of his spring break to designing some stencils for me. We started with a barn owl. His first rendition shows the owl just standing there, like it was posing for its identification drawing for Mr. Sibley.

"Make it more dynamic," I said.

So now it's clutching a mouse in its talon.

Giles says it's macabre. I say nature is red in tooth and claw.

:D I'm with Giles. But I knew you'd come up with your own stencil ideas at some point!

Oh Anna, this is a serendipitous post because today I planned to leave a URL for Felix. I heard on the news this morning about a rare sighting of the Australian Powerful Owl in Sydney's Centennial Park which immediately brought Felix to mind. The link below includes a short video of the owl and a link to the Powerful Owl Project.

The mouse is a bit macabre, but I think it takes the shirt to a more "macho" level that appeals to guys. It's also subtle enough not to be too "in your face." The shirt turned out great though. Hopefully more to come?

Oh this is neat! I would love a shirt like this! (And I think it works to be realistic.)

I think it is awesomely cool, in a youthful, edgy contemporary sort of way. I wonder if my boys would wear it? (Ages 17, 20 and 22.) Probably.

I'm with Giles too. You did a great job no matter how disgustingly graphic.
